You will be staying at Borwick Hall near Carnforth, the oldest parts of which date back to the 14th Century, built as a Pele Tower to defend against the reiving clans who terrorised the area at the time. It is a Grade I listed building with the kind of history (Charles II stayed, and seemingly fathered a child here after his first, failed attempt to retake the English throne), and all the accompanying ghosts you would expect (the most famous of which is the White Lady). It formed the backdrop, and the ghosts, for the 70s TV show, The Ghosts of Motley Hall. It is used for a wide range of functions throughout the year, with fantastic catering provided by the onsite staff. Historical and/or ghost tours will be available through the day, and into the night, for those who want to get properly spooked! The links below take you to a little bit of the hall's history, but there is so much more to find out about it.
Accommodation is in dormitory style rooms, to get that feel of school trips, but you pick where you want to sleep. Dormitories range in size and and are mixed-sex, but if you request at time of booking single-sex and group rooms can be provided.
For those wanting to borrow a sleeping bag and mat and to sleep in one of the tepees on site, this is also an option that you can take up if you choose, although always with the option of retreating to a bed if you so wish!
